| NCCATS 01-14-06 Lake Norman Tournament Results: Some hardcore catfisherman come out to Lake Norman for the NCCATS Catfish Tournament. The NCCATS contestants faced very windy conditions with gust up around 40 and 50 mph. Despite the windy conditions 14 teams came out to compete in this event. First Place went to Kevin Custer of Statesville and Randy Boyles of Union Grove with a 5 fish limit stringer weighing in at 59.60 pounds and won $500.00. Second Place went to Chris Kerley of Troutman and Joe Montaigne of Statesville with a stringer weighing in at 56.50 pounds and won $300.00. Kerley and Montaigne also had the Biggest Fish of the tournament weighing in at 22.75 pounds and won $140.00. Third Place went to Tracy Setzer and Omar Edwards of Claremont with a stringer weighing in at 39.65 pounds and won $180.00. Next NCCATS Tournament will be at Mountain Island Lake at the Riverbend Wildlife Boat Ramp on 01-28-06. | NCCATS 01-28-06 Mountain Island Lake Tournament Results 19 teams came out to compete in the event this weekend and like always some nice stringers showed up at the weigh scales. The teams faced a breezy cool morning and a nice warm breezy afternoon. Some said the fish weren't biting and some said they had to cull smaller fish. First Place went to Dennis Leonard of Stanley and Chris Fraley of Mount Holly with a 5 fish limit stringer weighing in at 69.90 pounds and won $670.00. Second Place went to Kenny Edwards and Danny Redmon both of Charlotte with a stringer weighing in at 67.40 pounds and won $330.00. Third Place went to Lonnie White and Phil Leonard both of Stanley with a stringer weighing in at 51.00 pounds and won $200.00. Fourth Place went to Jerry Hildebran of Sherrills Ford and Jay Johnson of Statesville with a stringer weighing in at 40.70 pounds and won $130.00. Hildebran and Johnson also had the Big Fish weighing in at 23.50 pounds and won $190.00. |
| NCCATS 02-11-06 Lake Norman Tournament Results The teams faced a rainy and cold day of fishing today. Some said the bigger fish just didn't bite today but the smaller fish were feasting. Like always there are a few that got the big bites. First Place went to Dennis Leonard of Stanley and Chris Fraley of Mount Holly with a 5 fish limit stringer weighing in at 63.70 pounds and won $500.00. Second Place went to Mike Mundy and Mike Woods both of Statesville with a stringer weighing in at 38.25 pounds and won $200.00. Third Place went to Rodney Kerley of Troutman and Curtis Winslow of Huntersville with a stringer weighing in at 33.40 pounds and won $150.00. Mundy and Woods also had the Big Fish weighing in at 23.70 pounds and won $130.00. |
| NCCATS 02-25-06 Lake Tillery Tournament Results The teams came out to Lake Tillery with a mind in bringing the big ones in. Only the little ones seemed to bite though on this cloudy cool brisk and breezy day. First Place went to Rodney Kerley of Troutman and Curtis Winslow of Huntersville with a winning 5 fish stringer weighing in at 30.00 pounds and won $450.00. Second Place went to Michael Chandler of Midland and Steve Chandler of Rockwell with a stringer weighing in at 24.55 pounds and won $250.00. Big Fish went to Rodney Kerley and Curtis Winslow with a fish weighing in at 9.95 pounds and won $100.00. |
| NCCATS 03-18-06 Lake Badin Tournament Results The teams came out to Badin Lake with a mind in bringing the big ones in and they did so. It was a cool windy day with a good chop on the water. Results First Place went to Rodney Kerley of Troutman and Curtis Winslow of Huntersville with a winning 5 fish stringer weighing in at 92.75 pounds and won $420.00. Second Place went to Michael Chandler of Midland and Steve Chandler of Rockwell with a stringer weighing in at 84.50 pounds and won $220.00. Third Place went to Robbie Byers and Robert Byers both of Denver with a stringer weighing in at 83.45 pounds and won $130.00. Big Fish went to Michael & Steve Chandler both of Rockwell with a fish weighing in at 49.30 pounds and won $110.00.. |
| NCCATS 03-25-06 Mountain Island Lake Tournament Results The teams came out to Mountain Island Lake in hopes of catching some good fish and winning a $500.00 certificate from Johnson Outdoors, Inc. good for Humminbird and Minn-Kota products. The talk at the scales was that some got some good bites but just couldn't hook up and some wondered if there was even a fish in the lake. The weigh-in was low and a cool windy front come in while fishing todays tournament. Results First Place went to Kevin Custer of Statesville and Randy Boyles of Union Grove with a winning stringer weighing in at 39.90 pounds and won $520.00. Second Place went to Robbie Byers with a stringer weighing in at 35.40 pounds and won $300.00. Third Place went to Chris Kerley of Troutman and Joe Montaigne of Statesville with a stringer weighing in at 31.45 pounds and won $160.00. Big Fish went to Chris Kerley and Joe Montaigne with a fish weighing in at 23.15 pounds and won $140.00. |
| NCCATS 04-08-06 Lake Wylie Tournament Results Some hardcore teams came out to Lake Wylie in hopes of catching some good fish and hope the threatening weather steers away. Well, the wind come in but the threatening weather stayed away. The talk at the scales was that everyone seemed to catch fish but the big one just didn't bite today. Results First Place went to Ric Helms of Mount Holly and Danny Redman of Charlotte with a winning stringer weighing in at 32.45 pounds and won $380.00. Second Place went to Robbie Byers with a stringer weighing in at 24.70 pounds and won $180.00. Big Fish went to Ric Helms and Danny Redman with a fish weighing in at 11.30 pounds and won $80.00. |
| NCCATS 04-22-06 Lake Hickory Tournament Results (NEW Lake Record) *The angler's came to the weigh scales with some big channels cats. Everyone seemed to have caught fish and caught large fish. The race was close and tight and the old NCCATS Lake Hickory Tournament record weight for five catfish was broken again. This is the third year in a row that the record has been broken. The old record of 51 plus pounds was beaten today with a new record for five catfish weighing in at 52.10 pounds. Results First Place (New Record Weight) went to Jerry and Ben Hildebran of Sherrills Ford and Randy Reinheardt of Claremont with a record winning stringer weighing in at 52.10 pounds and won $600.00. Jerry Hildebran was teamed up with Kevin Custer last year in 2005 which broke the record last year. Second Place went to Kenny and Stacy Edwards both of Charlotte with a stringer weighing in at 50.35 pounds and won $300.00. Third Place went to Kevin Custer of Statesville and Randy Boyles of Union Grove with a stringer weighing in at 49.90 pounds and won $180.00. Kevin Custer was teamed up with Jerry Hildebran last year which broke last years record weight. Fourth Place went to Tracy Setzer and Omar Edwards both of Claremont with a stringer weighing in at 47.05 pounds and won $110.00. Biggest Fish went to Mike Mundy and Mike Woods with a fish weighing in at 12.95 pounds and won $170.00 |
| NCCATS 05-06-06 Lake Norman Tournament Results The angler's came to the weigh scales with some nice cats this morning. Everyone seemed to have caught fish but some said they just couldn't get the big fish bites. The weigh in was a little lower than average. This was probably mostly due to a low pressure front coming in and an early morning thunderstorm were the thoughts that most the angler's were expressing. Results First Place went to Chris Fraley of Mount Holly and Dennis Leonard of Stanley with a stringer weighing in at 67.10 pounds and won $600.00. Second Place went to Joe Montaigne of Statesville with a stringer weighing in at 59.85 pounds and won $320.00. Third Place went to Richard and Ricky Pope of Catawba with a stringer weighing in at 56.65 pounds and won $180.00. Biggest Fish went to Glenn Rollings of Catawba and Eddie Minton of Moravian Falls with a fish weighing in at 27.95 pounds and won $160.00. |
| NCCATS 05-20-06 High Rock Lake Tournament Results *High Rock Lake has always been very well known as a big flathead catfish lake and at the NCCATS weigh-in scales it still proved true again. Angler's faced a few thunderstorms during the tournament and to some they said that it stopped the bite and for other angler's it helped the flathead bite. It seemed like everyone said that they caught the channel cats. Results First Place went to Joe Montaigne of Statesville and Chris Kerley of Troutman with a winning 5 fish stringer weighing in at an impressive 128.35 pounds and won $700.00. Second Place went to Rodney Kerley of Troutman and Curtis Winslow of Huntersville with a stringer weighing in at 114.60 pounds and $350.00. Third Place went to Gene Lemmings and Scott Briggs both of Lexington with a stringer weighing in at 98.75 pounds and won $225.00. Fourth Place went to Leon Bare and Jeff Deason both of Kannapolis with a stringer weighing in at 72.65 pounds and won $125.00. Big Fish went to Alan Kerley, Wayne Estes and Jon Johnson with a flathead catfish weighing in at 44.80 pounds and won $200.00. |
| NCCATS 06-03-06 Cape Fear River Tournament Results *The Cape Fear River has always been very well known as a big catfish waters and at the NCCATS weigh-in scales it wasn't quite true this time. Angler's faced very good weather conditions as far as no rain and it wasn't windy but the fog got thick and stayed around all night. At the scales it seemed like everyone said that they lost a big fish. The small ones seemed to only bite and some of the locals said the reason of them not biting that well was because of the fish were spawning. This tournament was held at the Tory Hole Wildlife public boat access in Elizabethtown. This was a catch and release 5 fish limit tournament. Results First Place went to Kenny Edwards of Charlotte and Ric Helms of Mt. Holly with a winning 4 fish stringer weighing in at 57.80 pounds and won $450.00. Second Place went to Thomas Slappe of Fayetteville with a stringer weighing in at 57.00 pounds and $220.00. hird Place went to Ricky & Karen Sykes both of Fayetteville with a stringer weighing in at 41.20 pounds and won $100.00. Big Fish went to Ric Helms and Kenny Edwards with an Arkansas Blue catfish weighing in at 23.90 pounds and won $110.00. |
| NCCATS 06-17-06 Mountain Island Lake Tournament Results Well you couldn't have asked for better weather as it was on Saturday night for fishing. The teams at the scales said the bites were hard to come by but it seemed like everyone got a big bite but just couldn't get it in. Mtn. Island Lake still lived up to it's famous big fish name history. Results First Place went to Robbie Byers of Denver with a winning 5 fish stringer weighing in at 86.70 pounds and won $520.00. Second Place went to Kevin Custer of Statesville and Randy Boyles of Union Grove with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 63.35 pounds and $260.00. Third Place went to Kenny Edwards and Chris Moise of Charlotte and Ric Helms of Mt. Holly with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 39.45 pounds and won $130.00. Big Fish went to Robbie Byers with an Arkansas Blue catfish weighing in at 41.15 pounds and won $130.00. |
| 07/15/06 NCCATS Lake Norman Catfish Tournament Results The teams had to fight a pretty good thunder shower the first couple hours of the tournament but it turned out to be a calm muggy night overall. Most the teams at the weigh-in scale said they had plenty of bites last night and lots of hookups but it was mostly the smaller flathead catfish taking the bait and some said they did catch a few small blues. Results First Place went to Rodney Kerley of Troutman and Curtis Winslow of Huntersville with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 90.55 pounds and won $540.00. Second Place went to Lonnie White and Phil Leonard both of Stanley with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 55.80 pounds and won $280.00. Third Place went to Mike Mundy and Mike Woods both of Statesville with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 52.80 pounds and won $160.00. Big Fish of the tournament went to Rodney Kerley and Curtis Winslow with a 32.85 pound flathead and won $140.00. |

| 08/12/06 NCCATS High Rock Lake Catfish Tournament Results NCCATS last tournament of the year for 2006 went out with big weights of catfish coming from the infamous High Rock Lake. Teams faced cooler than average season temperatures and everyone seemed to have caught fish was the talk at the scales. Results First Place went to the team of Alan Kerley, Wayne Estes and Jon Johnson all of Statesville with a 5 fish stringer of flathead catfish weighing in at 132.50 pounds and won $600.00. Second Place went to the team of Mike Munday and Mike Woods both of Statesville with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 117.75 pounds and won $300.00. Third Place went to the team of Kevin Custer of Statesville and Randy Boyles of Union Grove with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 109.75 pounds and won $200.00. Fourth Place went to the team of Dennis Leonard of Stanley and Chris Fraley of Mount Holly with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 107.10 pounds and won $160.00.
