| 2/9/2008 NCCATS Lake Tillery Tournament Results 25 teams came out to test their catfishing skills on Lake Tillery of Stanly County at Cook's Marina. The weather was unseasonably warm for the day. The high temperature was around 58 degrees and the low started out around 35 degrees. The wind was calm until around lunch time where the wind got blowing somewhere around 15 to 25 mph. The fish were caught in depths from 15 to 35 feet using cut shad has bait. | 3/8/08 NCCATS Badin Lake Tourney Results It was a very windy day today with gusts up to around 50 mph and sustained winds around 30 mph. To say the least, it was very rough fishing conditions all day. 21 teams came out to the Badin Works\Alcoa landing at Badin Lake in beautiful pristine Stanly County to test their skills today in not only catfishing but boating also. The bite wasn't that great at all today with only very few teams weighing in. The talk at the scales was that the fish bit anywhere from around 18 to 40 feet deep. The bait of choice was cut gizzard shad. A very special thanks to the Stanly County Convention and Visitors Bureau for sponsorship of this event. | 4/19/08 NCCATS Lake Hickory Tourney Results 12 Teams arrived to test their skills on Lake Hickory at the Whittenburg Wildlife Boat Access in Bethlehem for a remarkably growing channel catfish lake. For 4 consecutive years the Lake Hickory record catch for 5 catfish weight has been broken. This time the record wasn't broken but it was tied at 54.45 pounds and by the same record holder team of Kevin Custer, daughter Mackenzie of Statesville and Jerry Hildebran of Sherrills Ford. While the forecast only called for showers and clearing off by midnight, which didn't seem like too bad of a night. The weather turned out to be severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings that swept through the area for the first 4 hours of the tournament making just being outside a major task. It did clear off by midnight though and the teams seemed to catch some nice fish. The talk at the scales was that there wasn't a problem of the fish biting but trying to get a larger fish was the problem. The bait of choice was cut bait whether it be shad or bream. The bite seemed to be in various depths from 10 to 30 feet. Results First Place and a tie for the lake record went to the team of Kevin and daughter Mackenzie Custer of Statesville and Jerry Hildebran of Sherrills Ford with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 54.45 pounds and won $420.00. Second Place went to the team of Randy Reinhardt of Catawba and Tony and son T.W. Hollar of Claremont with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 43.90 pounds and won $300.00. Third Place went to the team of Wayne Estes of Statesville and Spencer Hodges of Hamptonville with a 5 fish stringer weighing in at 38.30 pounds and won $120.00.
